Ingredients for Preparing Ogbono Soup
- Assorted meat
- 1 cup of blended ogbono seed
- Fish
- Stock-fish
- 1 tablespoon of locust beans{Iru}
- 2 tablespoon of crayfish
- 2 chicken cubes or seasoning
- 1/2 cup of palm oil
- 1 onion
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable {optional}
- pepper
Procedures
1. Wash and slice the meat and put it into the pot, add little of the diced onion, seasoning. then, allow boiling for about 10-15 minutes.
2. Grind the ogbono seed and set aside.
3. Slice or cut the vegetable and set aside
4. Then, add the ground ogbono seed into the pot of the boiling meat, this will flavor the ogbono soup. add more water if needed. Stir it very well until the ogbono seed dissolves and has completely absorbed the meat.
5. Also, add your crayfish, pepper, salt to taste, lru and palm oil, Mix thoroughly with the palm oil and allow to cook for about 5 minutes.
6. Stir until it begins to thicken, that way it will begin to draw
7. You can add a little stock or water until it reaches your desired step because some people love the soup less thick while others love it thick.
Then, set on medium heat and cook for about 10 minutes and add your vegetable. Allow simmering for 3-5 minutes.

NOTE
You can fry the ogbono soup if so desire – Get a clean pot, place on medium heat, and add some palm oil. Once the oil has melted, add the ground Ogbono.
Use the cooking spoon to dissolve the Ogbono seed into the oil. Once it is thoroughly mixed, add the meat stock or water into the pot and set on medium heat.
If you love your Ogbono Soup without vegetables, you can skip that part.
Be careful so that you do not add too much stock or water in the ogbono soup, so it will not become too watery.
