UK Student Visa Requirements 2023 – Documents You Need To Apply

To be eligible for a Tier 4 student visa, you must:

Have an unconditional offer of a place on a course with a licensed Tier 4 sponsor;

Be able to speak, read, write and understand English;

Have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course.

When applying for your Tier 4 visa, you will generally need:

A current passport or other valid travel documentation;

Evidence of funds to provide your living expenses for the duration of your course;

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) reference number and documents used to obtain CAS;

• Passport-sized color photograph
• Tuberculosis screening (if required)
• Assessment documentation
• Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance certificate (if required)

Additional documents may also be needed if you are:

Not a citizen of the country you are applying from;

Under 18 years of age;

Have a family (dependents);

Cost of Visa Student

It costs £348 to apply for this visa from outside the UK. You must pay £348 per person for any dependants. The methods of payment are stated below.

Online using either a MasterCard or Visa card;

Through demand draft at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank;

Through Cash at the visa application center and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.

Apply outside the UK – UK Student Visa Requirements

You must apply online for a Tier 4 (General) student visa.

You’ll need to have your fingerprints and photograph taken at a visa application center (to get a biometric residence permit) as part of your application.

You’ll have to collect your biometric residence permit within 10 days of when you said you’d arrive in the UK (even if you actually arrive at a later date).

You may be able to get your visa faster or other services depending on what country you’re in – check with your visa application center.

North Korea

You cannot apply online if you’re living in North Korea.

To apply from North Korea you must:

• download the application form and guidance – read the guidance if you need help filling in the form
• read the instructions to find out where to take your completed form

Apply in the UK

Check if you can apply from inside the UK to:

• extend your existing Tier 4 (General) student visa
• switch to this visa from another visa.
